New HUD guidelines call for trans inclusion in shelters

Guidelines from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development now call for single-sex emergency shelters to place transgender clients in the shelter where they feel most comfortable. The guidelines also discourage providers from asking invasive questions about a client’s anatomy or soliciting documents for determining a client’s gender. Follow this link for the full guidelines.
